McWilliams Bridge is scheduled for replacement due to structural deterioration confirmed through detailed inspections.

The bridge is nearing the end of its service life. Despite past repairs, continued deterioration has made full replacement necessary to maintain safety and functionality.


Planned Improvements:

  • New precast concrete bridge
  • New paving and steel beam guide rails


These upgrades will develop a safe and efficient road and transportation system that addresses the needs of our residents and businesses.

  • Construction Commencement

    • The Request for Tender has closed, and Henderson Construction from Port Hope has been awarded the Construction contract for the structure replacement.
    • Structure delivery is anticipated end of September.
    • Mobilization of equipment and anticipated road closures to commence mid-September.
    • Blessington Road, from Forsythe Road to Bethany Road, to be closed for the duration of construction which is anticipated to take eight weeks.
    • Notices to residents and impacted parties are being issued.
    • Construction completion anticipated by end of 2025.
  • Request for Tender Issued

    • Following Public Consultation, it was decided that the section of Blessington Road impacted by construction will be closed for the duration of the work, with appropriate detours and signage in place. This will result in a safer, more efficient and cost effective construction process.
    • Design is complete and a Request for Tender has been issued, which is anticipated to close by the end of June 2025.

    A Public Consultation Centre was held on April 23, 2025.

    The purpose was to gather public feedback on the option to close the road to through traffic or maintain a single lane with the use of temporary traffic signals during construction.
