Bridge Street East is being rebuilt to address aging underground infrastructure and improve the reliability of essential municipal services. While the road surface is what people see every day, the most urgent needs are below ground: the water and sanitary systems serving this corridor have reached a point where continued patch repairs are no longer the most responsible long-term approach.

This project is about replacing infrastructure that is at or near the end of its service life and to reduce the risk of service interruptions to the residents, businesses, and emergency services that depend on these systems every day.


Planned Improvements include:

  • Replacement of the watermain and the existing water services.
  • Replacement of the existing sanitary sewer main and the existing sanitary services.
  • Complete reconstruction of road base and asphalt.
  • Replacement of most concrete curb and gutter.
  • Repairs to the existing concrete sidewalk.

    A Public Consultation Centre will be held as follows to provide information and gather feedback regarding the proposed reconstruction of Bridge Street East, from Herchimer Avenue to Haig Road. A key map outlining the project location is attached for reference.

    Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. AND 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    Location: SMB Room (3rd floor) Belleville City Hall, 169 Front Street, Belleville, Ontario

    As no formal presentations will be made, members of the public are encouraged to attend at their convenience. Project staff will be on hand to answer any questions and provide more information. All presentation materials will be available on the City’s Get Involved webpage one week prior to the PCC.
