A Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) is underway to assess options for replacing the aging Forest Hill Sewage Pumping Station on Farley Street.

The existing air-based pumping station is increasingly unreliable and difficult to repair due to discontinued parts. Replacement is now critical.

Completion of the MCEA will identify a preferred solution, allowing preliminary and detailed design to move forward.

Modernizing or eliminating the aging station will ensure long-term service reliability, reduce repair costs, and align with current wastewater infrastructure standards.

The purpose of this Municipal Class Enviornmental Assessment (MCEA) is to evaluate suitable options to address the aging Forest Hill Sewage Pump Station (SPS) in the City of Belleville. Options being considered include replacing the current SPS in the same location, replacing the current SPS in a new location, and the potential of omitting the SPS entirely and transitioning to a gravity based system.

Public and agency consultation is a key part of the Class EA process. Based on your input, the Class EA will identify the preferred servicing option that will reliably accommodate current sewage flows and any future increase in flows from growth within the sewer shed. The goal of the MCEA is to provide a solution that will benefit the community well into the future.
